spreadLOVE: the best board game EVER...

This game is called Pok. It was given to me by a friend many years ago and it is thee favourite game for us to play as a foursome. It's like a cross between Trouble and Crazy 8s, only meaner. I (heart) this game.

You've blogged about this game before, which caused me to google it. I found nothing. I wasn't to play, it looks fun. I'm going to need you to type up a lengthy description of the rules, and draw a diagram of the board so I can make one for myself.

Apparently it comes from New Brunswick. No one has ever marketed it, though they probably could. You must have 4 players, and you play with a deck of cards, Joker's included, on a deck or board as you see above. Anyone you land on you send home; the only safe places are in your starter space and the finish lane. Aces get a man out of home or are worth one space. 2 and 3 are worth spaces only. 4s you HAVE to move backwards. 5 and 6 are worth spaces only. 7s are turbo blasters and take out everyone in their path except for marbles in the starter spaces. 8, 9 and 10 are worth spaces only. Jacks you can trade places with anyone on the board, or take 11 spaces. Trading spaces with a Jack is also the only way you can 'pass' someone in their starter space on the board. Queens are worth 12, and Kings are worth 13 or can get a marble out. Jokers will get a marble out or are worth 20 spaces, and when you are dealt a Joker, you get the extra card. There are three hands per deal, 5 cards, then 4, then 4 again. If you don't have a man out on the board, or if at any point you are unable to take your move, you discard your entire hand and go make drinks for everyone. It's every man for himself until one player wins; the winner then plays for their partner, but they cannot communicate which cards they have. I know there are more rules but that's kind of the gist of it. I imagine you could play on a Trouble board if you had one - even if the spaces aren't the same number it'd work OK. It's best played with a few drinks and plenty of snacks, and we advise against playing on a team with your partner/spouse/significant other.
