myLOVE: Serejane goes to her first Big Girl Birthday Party

On Saturday afternoon, Serejane got to go to her first Big Girl birthday party.  (Too bad they spelled the birthday girl's name wrong...)

The birthday party was at the Edmonton Storyland Valley Zoo.

After seeing some animal artifacts, petting a turtle, and visiting the nocturnal animals, we got to tour around SAITO Centre.

The sea lion was adorable.  She was making eyes at me...  ~wink wink!~

My favourite animals at the Zoo are the gibbons.  I'm excited to see their new digs (and the new train) this summer!

This is Taiga, one of the zoo's two new Siberian tigers.

She's very friendly - she came right up to the glass to say hi, and followed us when we went to go see Lucy the elephant.

Ambystoma tigrinum is the salamander my sister spent most of her time looking at.  This little half-developed salamander-looking thing is an axolotl (ambystoma mexicanum).  They are very pretty.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree...

Serejane says, "Picture me!"  And so I do!

There were presents and cake, of course.

And this beautiful rescue owl.

We got to fee the guinea pigs...

and pet the ferret and skunk.

And, of course, I'm always up for visiting the prairie dogs (black tailed ones at that.)

It was really neat running into the Birthday girl's uncle, who happens to be one of this year's workshoppers.  A shout-out to Brian who was, indeed, camera in hand the whole time!
