unimpressed

42% voter turn out for the Provincial Elections last night, the lowest in the province's history.

If you don't like the Tories and didn't bother to vote, I don't want to hear you complaining about a single damned thing. Not. A. Thing.

Crappy. Not surprised though. Took me two seconds to vote at my polling station because there was maybe 4 people there yesterday. Sucks!

There seemed to be a lot of people feigning despondency: "The Tories are going to win, so why even bother voting?" Well OK, stupid people - guess what - they BANK on that mentality. For those who wanted the Tories to win, then I suppose it was a waste of time. however, for those of you who want CHANGE and aren't happy with the Tory Legacy of the past, present, and future, WHY didn't you get up off your butts and VOTE?!?!

The Blue Rinse club votes, religiously. they feel it's their right, their responsibility, their privelege. The Baby Boomers know first-hand how important it is to vote, to be heard, to be that single grain of rice. I'm not sure how this committment to performing your civic duty has become something *my* generation in particular seems so freakin' blase about, especially since we are the ones who will have to clean up or continue whatever our intrepid leaders put into play for us lest we leave our kids and elders without education and health care.

I am so disappointed with the turnout. I don't know what the heck is wrong with people that they can't take 15 minutes out of their day to go vote. Yet it's these same folks who don't vote that sit and bitch and complain when government does something they don't agree with. I umm have some choice words for those types. I am not sure why alberta is so pro tory, their certainly not my party of choice.

Whether or not you're pro-Tory should have NO bearing whatsoever on your ability or desire to vote. Let's just say all of a sudden we, as a province, decide we hate the Tories. OVER HALF THE PROVINCE coupldn't be bothered to get off their couches to vote. What are we teaching our children? We. Are. Screwed. lol. It doesn't matter how many times you use the single-grain-of-rice analogy, people still just don't get it. Confounds me.

I'm not down with the Tories personally either, but I have some very nice friends who, bless their little hearts, are. I try and be the bigger person about it. HAHAH!!!

2005 - Chuck Cadman's ONE VOTE decided the fate of the Federal government.

1980 - Quebec Separation Referendum failed by only a 10% margin.

1916 - Manitoba was the first province to allow women to vote. That's only 92 years ago. My neighbour is 95.

1929 - Canadian women became "persons" in 1929. My mother was not a person until she was a year old.

2008 - Women still can't vote in Saudi Arabia.

1994 - Black women in South Africa finally got the vote. White women have been allowed to vote since 1930.

I could go on and on but I think I've made my point. All you dumbasses who don't vote deserve what you get but don't take the rest of us down with you.
