announcement #1

I am very very pleased and excited to announce that ticdesign, consisting of the lovely and talented Laura Jane, Tasha, and others from the workshops (and yours truly of course) have been officially designated Team Photographers for this year's Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life. This means we will be on the track at the start of the Relay taking pictures of each team as they do their Spirit Lap, as well as being endowed with the incredible honour of doing the group photo for Cancer Survivors participating in the Survivor Lap.

For anyone who hasn't been out to the Relay before, the Survivor's Lap is one of the most haunting and uplifting sights you will ever see.  They come out en masse - hundreds of people who have beaten cancer and lived to tell about it - and kick the event off with a victory lap.  Immediately following that is the Team Spirit Lap, where each team, in full garb, be it dressed in crazy loud costumes or sporting understated matching shirts, make their first lap.  They've never had someone make a point of photographing the teams in this manner, and it is such a HUGE honour to be asked to do this.  It's so humbling and I am filled with such gratitude for this opportunity I am at a loss for words.  

I *think* my Daddy would be proud.

We are still working out the fine details, but we are definitely confirmed enough to make the announcement...  SO!  If you haven't pledged yet, the relay is 2 short months away...
